LIBRARY HISTORY

History of the Library

The Bonfield Public Library is situated in the village of Bonfield, approximately 32 km east of North Bay. This library also serves the hamlet of Rutherglen within the Bonfield Township which is a partner in the Mattawa Bonfield Economic Development Corporation. We share our facilities with the Municipal Township Office. This building is housed in a municipal part with access to many outdoor recreation facilities such as a basketball court, ice rink, swimming area, and a soccer field. In 2016 the population that we served was 1,975 with 819 households. Our library also serves hundreds of Summer people who cottage on Lake Nosbonsing, Talon Lake and Kaibuskong River which joins these two beautiful lakes.
